LIT's Safety Awareness Institute (SAI) is a set of safety courses that are partially funded by Texas Mutual Insurance.

Tuition for these sections are being offered at a 90% discounted rate the public. Registration must be completed before the first day of class. (Minimum enrollments are required. Dates and times may change without notice.)


Production Safety Systems - (T2) Basic
24 Hours

Primary goal is to meet the requirements as outlined in 30 CFR 250 Subpart O safety systems required training.

The following information will be covered: Excerpts from 30 CFR 250 Chapter II, API RP 14C, API RP 14B, API RP 14H,  S.A.F.E. Charts, Testing and Record keeping

Target Audience: All operators and maintenance personnel- Wireline, I&C, mechanics. Others who will benefit are those involved with the installation, operation, maintenance, and/or testing of production safety equipment.

Escaping Violent Encounters
8 Hours

EVE is an 8-hour course covering the basic skills that can be utilized when facing possible, or even imminent assault. The course content consists of:

  • Before you enter the room or home. (Pre-Planning)
  • Verbal skills to diffuse potentially violent encounters.
  • Entrance/exit plan
  • Recognize the difference between a patient and an attacker/aggressor.
  • Pre-assault indicators. (bystanders, body language, situational survey)
  • Legal aspects of self-defense.
  • Legal aspects of patient restraint.
  • Mental Preparation (Survival Mindset, Understanding stress and its effects)
  • Critical Thinking Problem-Solving.
  • Escapes from various grabs/holds
  • Easy to learn and retain “drills” to reinforce reaction timing

Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED 
8 Hours

Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED is a video-based, instructor-led course that teaches students critical skills needed to respond to and manage an emergency until emergency medical services arrives. Skills covered in this course include first aid; choking relief in adults, children, and infants; and what to do for sudden cardiac arrest in adults, children, and infants.

This course teaches skills with the AHA’s research-proven practice-while-watching technique, which allows instructors to observe the students, provide feedback, and guide the students’ learning of skills.

This course is for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card in CPR and AED use to meet job, regulatory, or other requirements.

Forklift Training
7 Hours

In this one day combination classroom hands on training students will learn safety operation procedures, OSHA regulations and certification valid for 3 years.

Students must wear shirts with sleeves, pants, and closed toed shoes to complete the forklift training coursework.  Arriving in tank tops, muscle shirts, sandals, dresses, and/or slippers will result in a dismissal from the class.

The following forklift equipment may be used during this course: Yale (4900 lb. Capacity), Daewoo (4450 lb. Capacity) and Pallet Jack (non-motorized) and Sky Trak 6000 lb / 36. *

*Not all equipment options will be used during the one day training.

Cherry Picker (Aerial Lift) Training  
8 Hours

In this one day combination classroom hands on training students will learn safety operation procedures, OSHA regulations and certification on a 40’ Straight In-line Boom lift. 

Students must wear shirts with sleeves, pants, and closed toed shoes to complete the forklift training coursework.  Arriving in tank tops, muscle shirts, sandals, dresses, and/or slippers will result in a dismissal from the class.
